Johny Hendricks admits a decision win over Mike Pierce is about as good as it gets

UFC welterweight powerhouse, Johny Hendricks has been giving his thoughts on his UFC 133 win over Mike Pierce this past weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, explaining a victory on the judges scorecards is about as good as it gets against the ultra-tough wrestler.
Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Hendricks said:

“One thing that was really nice about this is guess what: Whenever you fight Mike Pierce, you’re not going to finish him. I knew it was going to be a three-round fight. I knew that from the get-go. I told everyone from that. It was going to be a three-round fight, and it’s going to be a hard fought. So I had no expectation of finishing him. I just needed to go out there and win every round.”
When asked about the development of his striking game over the past year, Hendricks added:

“That’s one thing I’m really excited about it. As of right now, everyone keeps saying that. I finally have a striking coach, and I’ve only been able to work with him for about a month and a half. Just think what’s going to happen when I have another three months or a year to work with him.”
“I have my sights on someone and a date. But if I gave a hint, it’ll be way too easy to figure out. But for the first time, I’m excited for a fight. I’m really excited.”

Hendricks has now won his last two fights inside the octagon and is 6-1 overall inside the octagon over the past two years, making him one of the most active and consistent fighters on the promotions roster. Can he take the final step and become a real top contender in the 170 pound ranks?
