Dollaway vs. Hamman dropped from UFC on Versus 5's four-fight main card

With a high-profile lightweight contest between Donald Cerrone (15-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and Charles Oliveira (14-1 UFC, 2-1 UFC) taking a main-card slot at this month's UFC on Versus 5 event, a middleweight contest between C.B. Dollaway (11-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) and Jared Hamman (11-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has officially been relegated to the evening's preliminary card.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the switch with sources close to the event.

Featuring a welterweight headliner of Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle, UFC on Versus 5 takes place Aug. 14 at Milwaukee's Bradley Center.

The remainder of the evening's Versus-broadcast four-fight main card also includes Ben Henderson vs. Jim Miller and Duane Ludwig vs. Amir Sadollah.

The Cerrone-Oliveira matchup materialized out of a contest that was originally expected to see John Makdessi face Paul Taylor. However, "Cowboy" stepped in for an injured Makdessi, and "do Bronx" replaced an injured Taylor two weeks later.

Cerrone, a transplant from the since-folded WEC, brings a four-fight win streak to the cage, a run that includes UFC wins over Vagner Rocha and Paul Kelly. A six-time "Fight of the Night" winner while fighting under the Zuffa banner, the former professional kickboxer has posted 12 of his 15 career wins via submission.

Oliveira most recently competed at UFC on Versus 4, where he delivered an illegal knee to Nik Lentz that went unnoticed by the referee. The Brazilian ultimately ended the fight via rear-naked choke, but days after the June 26 event, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission ruled it a no-contest. Prior to the fiasco, Oliveira saw his 14-0 run come to an end with a submission loss to top UFC contender Miller.

Dollaway vs. Hamman was originally a scheduled as a preliminary card contest, but the fight was temporarily promoted to the main card when a light heavyweight matchup between Stephan Bonnar and Karlos Vemola was scrapped due to injury.
