"The Caveman" is now a full-time Bellator Fighting Championships employee
Bellator officials today announced David "The Cavemen" Rickels (7-0 MMA, 2-0 BFC), who boasts two fights under the promotion's banner, has now signed an exclusive deal.
"David made a strong impression on us during our fourth season, and we're happy to have him joining Bellator full-time," said Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney stated in today's official release.
Fighting professionally since February 2010, Rickels has opened his career with seven-straight victories. Five of the victories have come via submission including four by triangle choke. A sixth win cam via TKO, and Rickels has fought to a decision just once.
A Kansas native, Rickels earned wins on the preliminary card of Bellator 40 and Bellator 43, which both took place in Newkirk, Okla.
Bellator officials did not confirm if Rickels will take part in upcoming tournament but did suggest he would "be back in the Bellator cage in short order."
"Bellator is the place I want to be," Rickels stated. "This is a place I can make a career for myself. You look at Bellator, and they have top-10 welterweights like Jay Hieron and Ben Askren. It's a dream to be fighting alongside those guys."
