UFC fighter Chris Lytle forms Exploratory Committee for possible 2012 Indiana State House bid

Fighter, father, firefighter and now potential politician? What can't this guy do?
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Chris Lytle has announced his interest in possibly running for a position in the Indiana State House of Representatives in 2012.

"I'm thinking about running because I feel we need new faces in there with the right intentions. My main concern is helping make Indiana a good economic environment for us and our children. I want to see if a normal blue-collar worker can make a difference."

Lytle has not yet decided on whether or not he will throw his hat into the political ring, but did say he has plans to form an exploratory committee to help aid him in his decision.
"Lights Out" has spent his life as a renaissance man of sorts. In addition to his career as a professional mixed martial artist, he has served (and continues to serve) as a full time firefighter. He's also spent time as a professional boxer, and is the father of four children.
He won't be the first fighter to express interest in joining the political ranks, though. Most fans are aware of Chael Sonnen's recent unsuccessful bid for the Oregon State House of Representatives (which was, of course, mired by controversy).
Sonnen's mentor, Matt Lindland, also ran for a seat in the Oregon State House of Representatives, and was actually able to secure the Republican party nomination. Veteran MMA fighters Fedor Emelianenko and Jeff Monson have also expressed interest in running for public office.
It's a fight world, after all.

Lytle's MMA career has been a roller coaster ride of ups-and-downs. He is 30-18-5 (not a typo, five draws) throughout the more than decade long run he's enjoyed in combat sports.
On Aug. 14, Lytle will face fellow welterweight banger Dan Hardy at UFC on Versus 5 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The fight comes at the request of Hardy, who practically begged for one last opportunity to show UFC President Dana White he's more than just a filler for wrestlers to run over.
Though Lytle did drop his last fight to Brian Ebersole at UFC 127 on Feb. 27, he was riding a four fight win streak leading up to that point.
