PROFESSIONAL FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS presented BORDER WARS: ROUND 1 on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
In the main event, Team Tompkins fighter Chris "The Menace" Clements won the vacant PFC Welterweight Championship with a TKO victory over Travis Briere. After winning the first round, Clements dropped Briere in the opening seconds of the second round with a brutal spinning back kick to the midsection. Clements followed Briere to the ground and finished him off with punches at the 32-second mark of the second stanza.
The co-main event featured two undefeated rookies. The Ultimate Fighter 13 alum Javier "Chunty Boy" Torres, a member of Team Dos Santos, eked out a split decision win over local Windsor fighter Ali "The Monster" Mokdad.
In an all-Canadian bantamweight bout, John "Haggis Basher" Fraser needed just a couple of minutes and a second to submit Chuck "The Energiza Bunny" Mady. Fraser had Mady mounted and was raining down punches. Mady scrambled to escape, but ended up squirming his way into a triangle choke. From the full mount position, Fraser used his legs to squeeze the life out of Mady and forced the tapout. Fraser has now won 6 straight fights and could soon be getting a call from the UFC to compete in their still-developing 135-pound division.
