SHARK FIGHTS 16: NEER VS JUAREZ was held Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa, Texas.
In the main event, former UFC fighter Josh "The Dentist" Neer won his thirtieth MMA fight after former MFC fighter Jesse "The King" Juarez was unable to answer the bell for the second round due to a hand injury. Neer has now won 5 out of 6 fights since being released from the UFC, only losing in a non-title Bellator superfight to Bellator Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez. Juarez, on the other hand, has now lost back-to-back fights following a 9-fight winning streak.
In the co-main event, Artenas "Chico" Young won a unanimous decision over Elvis "The King" Mutapcic. After an uneventful 14 minutes of fighting, Young turned up the heat in the final minute of the fight and bloodied up Mutapcic before getting his hand raised for the victory.
West Texas native Anselmo Luis Luna Jr. scored a third-round submission victory over "Dangerous" Danny Salinas in a lightweight contest. Original TUF 12 cast member Ran Weathers continued to struggle with a quick knockout loss to undefeated featherweight Jared "Demon Eyes" Downing. Weathers has now lost 5 out of his last 7 fights.
