Titan FC 18: Jens Pulver re-booked to fight Brian Davidson on May 27 in Kansas City

Kansas City, KS - Former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver will have a new opponent and a new fighting weight when he headlines Titan Fighting Championship 18 (www.TitanFighting.com) on Friday, May 27. The event, which will be televised live nationally on HDNet (www.HD.net) and emanate from the historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, will now see Pulver (24-14-1) drop to 140 lbs. and take on Brian "Mr. D" Davidson (6-3) out of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Davidson is a late replacement for Mike Powell, who was pulled from the show after it was learned he violated his bout agreement by taking an unauthorized fight in North Dakota on April 23. In that fight, Powell was TKO'd against Josh Rave at 1:01 of round 2 and the Kansas Athletic Commission elected to overturn its previous decision to approve the fight.
A veteran of both Strikeforce and the Bellator Fighting Championships, Davidson is coming off a 54-second KO of Shane Hutchison at Bellator 32 this past October. At the time, his fight against Hutchison was promoted as a retirement bout. As it would turn out, his "retirement" has ended after less than a year away from active competition.
"Brian retired from active competition last year in order to focus on his duties as the head trainer at K2L/Grindhouse MMA. However, the offer to fight a legend in this sport on HDNet was too much for Brian to pass up," said Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly. "Brian is a former world Tae Kwon Do champion and his unique striking style will make for an explosive fight."

On May 27 at Memorial Hall, Davidson will find himself across the cage against one of the sport's true pioneers in Pulver. Pulver is currently in the midst of a career resurgence having joined Jeff Curran's Curran MMA in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Since joining Team Curran, Pulver has won two consecutive fights and will put his comeback into overdrive if able to push his win streak to three.
In addition to being a former UFC lightweight champion, Pulver holds notable wins in his career over the likes of B.J. Penn, Dennis Hallman, Joe Stevenson, Caol Uno, and John Lewis.
Tickets for "HDNet Presents: Titan Fighting Championship 18: Pulver vs. Davidson" are currently on-sale at Ticketmaster.com, all local Ticketmaster outlets, as well as the Memorial Hall box office.
