Welterweight prospect Quinn Mulhern (15-1 MMA, 0-0 SF) is heading to the big show.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the promotion that Strikeforce has inked a multi-fight deal with the 26-year-old submission ace.
The New Mexican's first opponent in the organization has yet to be determined, but sources indicated his debut fight for Strikeforce may come as soon as June's Strikeforce Challengers 16 event.
Strikeforce Challengers 16 takes place June 24 at ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash. The night's main card features lightweight prospect Ryan Couture (2-0 MMA, 2-0 SF) against an opponent yet to be determined, as well as a light heavyweight matchup between Lorenz Larkin (10-0 MMA, 1-0 SF) and Gian Villante (7-2 MMA, 0-1 SF).
Strikeforce officials have yet to announce the signing.
A 13-time King of the Cage veteran, Mulhern made his debut in 2007. He currently carries a seven-fight win streak that began after his lone career defeat, an October 2009 loss to UFC vet Michael Guymon.
Mulhern has fought the distance just twice in his 16-fight career, and 10 of his victories have been earned via submission.
Mulhern fought most recently in April, when he earned a first-round submission victory over Anselmo Martinez. In 2010, the Santa Fe Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu product fought six times, including three times in a seven-week span that included a TKO victory over longtime veteran Rich Clementi.
