Both Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard have suffered injuries in training camp, forcing a postponement of their third match-up, which was slated for the main event of the upcoming Memorial Day weekend event on May 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
According to MMAFighting.com, Edgar suffered broken ribs while Maynard suffered an injury to one of his knees. There is no word yet on how long the two will be out and a timetable for the third match-up is unknown at this time.
Yikes.
Stepping in to serve as the headliner of the evening will be the light heavyweight showdown pitting Quinton Jackson vs. Matt Hamill.
There is also some good news for a couple other fights on the card. From the UFC.com report:
Stepping up into the UFC 130 main event slot is the bout between former UFC light heavyweight champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Matt "The Hammer" Hamill, and moving to the Pay-Per-View card will be the Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story welterweight showdown.A very unfortunate turn of events, especially so close to the show, but if any promotion is equipped to handle such a thing, it's the UFC.
In Spike TV prelim action, Tim Boetsch's middleweight debut against Kendall Grove will join the bantamweight fight between Miguel Angel Torres and Demetrious Johnson.
