Amanda Nunes vs. Julie Kedzie slotted for "Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum"

A women's 135-pound bout between Amanda Nunes (6-1 MMA, 1-0 SF) and Julie Kedzie (16-8 MMA, 0-0 SF) is slotted for next month's "Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum" event.

Officials today announced that both fighters have agreed to the bout.

Featuring a pair of quarterfinal fights in Strikeforce's heavyweight grand prix, "Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum" takes place June 18 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, and the night's main card airs on Showtime.

Nunes vs. Kedzie likely will be part of the preliminary card.

Nunes, a Brazilian who fought throughout the country, recently made his her U.S. and Strikeforce debut and posted a stunning 14-second knockout of Julia Budd at Strikeforce Challengers 13. Since a submission loss in her 2008 pro debut, she's strung together six consecutive victories, all of which have come via knockout (four in the first round).

Kedzie,  a Greg Jackson-trained fighter who turned pro in 2004, is one of women's MMA's most experienced fighters. The EliteXC and BodogFIGHT vet currently is riding a four-fight win streak (all via decisions), which included wins over notables Kaitlin Young and Sarah D'Alelio. Since a 2007 loss to Gina Carano, Kedzie has posted an 8-2 record.
