Spike TV officials today confirmed that Ellenberger vs. Pierson, as well as an additional welterweight bout of Nate Diaz (13-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC) vs. Rory MacDonald (10-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), will air on the cable station as a "UFC Prelims" special prior to UFC 129's pay-per-view broadcast.
UFC 129 takes place April 30 at Toronto's Rogers Centre, and the PPV main card features welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre vs. top contender Jake Shields.
The one-hour "UFC Prelims" special kicks off at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT).
As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) reported earlier this week, Foster was forced off the card due to a brain hemorrhage that his pre-fight MRI revealed. Marc Fiore, who trains Foster at the H.I.T. Squad, said that while his fighter is OK, he is required to undergo another MRI in six weeks to assure no permanent damage is present.
Ellenberger accepted the bout soon after the Foster news broke.
The full UFC 129 card now includes:
