Ricardo Almeida explains there’s no chance he’ll change his mind over retiring from the sport of mixed martial arts

Veteran Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter, Ricardo Almeida has revealed that there’s no chance of history repeating itself and him changing his mind over his recently announced retirement from the sport, saying this time it’s not because he doesn’t want to do it, it’s because he can’t.
Speaking via MMAWeekly.com, Almeida said:
“There is no chance you’ll see me back this time. I’m not 25 anymore. The last time I quit, I quit because I didn’t want to do it. If I took four years now and decide maybe I’m still tough enough, I won’t be doing it because I don’t want to, but because I can’t.”
“I think a lot of guys linger too long, and I didn’t want to be one of them. Guys are only getting stronger, they’re only getting faster, for me to be out there and not really feeling comfortable and thinking I should be somewhere else, that’s not the healthy thing to do.”
“I’m always going to be a part of the sport, whether it’s through coaching or buying every pay-per-view or instructing people. Martial arts is my life. I’ll be training until the day I really retire, until they throw some dirt on top of me.”
Almeida returned to the octagon in 2008 after four years away and soon found himself in a number one contenders shootout with Patrick Cote which he came up short in. A trio of victories and a drop down to welterweight awarded the fighter a fight against long time 170 pound champion, Matt Hughes and again he failed to deliver on the night. He returned to winning ways late last year when he defeated T.J. Grant only to lose out to Mike Pyle just a few weeks ago.
