UFC 132 – Carlos Condit offers to step in for the injured Jon Fitch against B.J. Penn

Former WEC welterweight champion, Carlos Condit has offered to be the man that steps up to the plate and into the octagon against the legendary B.J. Penn at UFC 132 on July 2nd in Las Vegas, Nevada after the Hawaiian’s original opponent, Jon Fitch, picked up an injury in training this week.
Posting via his Twitter page, Condit said:
“It would be an honor to fight a legend like BJ Penn, one of my favorite fighters ever. If the call comes, I would take the fight in a second.”
Condit has been on a steep rise up the 170 pound ranks of late, defeating heavy handed wrestler Jake Ellenberger, outstanding Canadian prospect Rory McDonald and former title contender, Dan Hardy. Fans were calling Penn vs. Fitch “snooze fest mark II” but I suspect Penn vs. Condit would produce fireworks.
