Dana White confirms Rashad Evans will get the next shot at the light heavyweight title

UFC President, Dana White has today confirmed that former light heavyweight champion, Rashad Evans will get the next title opportunity following this weekend’s UFC 128 event in Newark, New Jersey where Mauricio “Shogun” Rua defends against Jon Jones in the nights main event.
Dana made the announcement while appearing on this week’s edition of ESPN’s MMA Live, but did add the winner would have to emerge “unscathed” from the fight. This will likely mean that if a long-term injury is picked up by whomever is the champion following Saturday’s event, Evans would be forced into taking a mandatory fight against another top contender.
Evans has had his problems with Dana over the past couple of months after refusing to compete until “Shogun” had returned from injury and refusing to fight his team mate, Jones if he wins the title. Things have changed somewhat over the past few days with Evans leaving Greg Jacksons camp and declaring open season on anyone at 205 pounds.
