UFC 126 Preview: Chad Mendes vs Michihiro Omigawa
After the first relevant featherweight fight in UFC history two weeks ago at "UFC Fight for the Troops 2" between Mark Hominick and George Roop, a second pair of top 145-pounders will meet when rising star Chad Mendes faces returning Japanese star Michihiro Omigawa on Saturday night (Feb. 5) on the preliminary card of UFC 126: "Silva vs. Belfort," which is headlined by a UFC middleweight championship bout between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.
With Hominick sowing up the first shot at UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, likely at UFC 129 in April, the winner of this fight could potentially put themselves right near the top for the first chance to fight the winner of that bout.
Will Mendes be "Money" and remain undefeated in his career? Or will Omigawa extend his winning streak to six straight and make a triumphant return to the UFC after a failed run three years ago?
Here is our preview of Saturday's clash between top 145-pounders Mendes and Omigawa, which will air live at 9 p.m. ET on Spike TV.
