RUMOUR – Paul Kelly becomes the latest fighter to be cut from the UFC roster

The rumour mill continues to turn this morning as MMABay learns that popular Brit, Paul Kelly is allegedly the latest fighter to feel the sharp end of the UFC’s axe, following his second round submission loss to Donald Cerrone at UFC 126 earlier this month.
While there has been no official confirmation from either the UFC or Kelly himself, MMABay was contacted this morning by a source very close to the promotion with the bad news. While we are neither confirming nor denying the story at this point, according to our source ‘Tellys’ has indeed become the latest victim of the post-WEC merger trimming of the lightweight division.
The news will come as a shock to fans of the plucky Brit, who despite compiling a spotty 5-4 record with the promotion was known for always turning in crowd-pleasing performances, including his instant classic with Paul Taylor in his UFC debut. However with the 155 pound division’s recent influx of WEC stars, numerous cuts have been made and despite claiming a ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus for his loss to Cerrone, Kelly has dropped three of his last five contests.
