He put the word out on Twitter:
"Hey my ppl! Last night most of u heard the news. If not here is the latest. I have 2 pull out of my Shogun fight because of injury. I severely sprained my MCL in practice. While in practice I got blindsided by another group of partners right into the side of my knee like football lineman style.. Since I'm hurt my teammate young phenom Bones Jones is gonna step in 4 me! I'm gonna recover & then see what happens next 4 me! Thank all u 4 the encouragement! I love my supports & my haters! Go get that belt brudda Jones!"Well at least Rashad Evans isn't sulking over the knee injury that forced him out of his UFC 128 main event title fight against Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio Rua. As "Suga" explains it, he severely sprained his MCL thanks to a few oblivious training partners and the word is, he will need up to eight weeks to recover. The good news is, he's likely to avoid surgery. He's putting his full support behind his teammate Jon Jones though, who took Evans' spot as the number one contender to the 205-pound strap after his dominating win over Ryan Bader at UFC 126 last night (Feb. 5). If "Bones" wins the title, that means Rashad won't be fighting for it anytime soon, so who should he face when he recovers from his ailments?
