Speaking via Riddum.com, Kongo said:
“[Matt Mitrione] is a great guy. I met him several times, he came off as a good person, the type of person I like in life and as a fighter. If the UFC offered me this [match-up], I would gladly take it.”
Kongo was last seen in action at UFC 120 in October, squaring off with Travis Browne in a fight that ended in a draw. The Frenchman had a point deducted late on in the fight for repeatedly grabbing a hold of the shorts, something that ultimately prevented him winning the fight.Mitrione is currently undefeated at 4-0 overall in his mixed martial arts career, with each win coming under the UFC’s banner. Stoppage wins over Marcus Jones, “Kimbo Slice” and Tim Hague has thrust Mitrione into the spotlight in the heavyweight division and could mean an even bigger fight down the line.
