UK welterweight stand-out, Paul “Semtex” Daley and former UFC heavyweight champion, Ricco Rodriguez both came in over the limit for their respective fights tomorrow night at BAMMA 5 in Manchester, England and will have an hour to lose the additional.
Rodriguez was first on to the scales out of the two, coming in at 216.8 pounds for his 215 pound catchweight fight with James McSweeney. Next up was Daley who weighed 172 pounds for his welterweight title clash with Japanese star, Yuya Shairai. Daley will have to lose two pounds as it’s a title fight.
The news could be a disaster for the UK promotion if Daley doesn’t make weight, just a few months removed from cancelling an event in Newcastle, England which was due to be headlined by American heavyweight, Bob Sapp. Stay tuned to MMABay for more on this as we get it.
