TUF 13 – Dana White explains further the decision to name Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos as coaches

UFC President, Dana White has been explaining further how he got to the decision to have former heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar, square off against current number one contender, Junior dos Santos, first as coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show and then inside the world famous octagon.
Speaking on Tuesday night’s press conference, Dana said:
“We were sitting there, working on this thing for such a long time. At the press conferences, everybody kept asking me. I said, ‘I’m behind the eight-ball. I should’ve had this done already.’ There were a lot of different people we were looking at and then, boom, Cain Velasquez gets hurt. I was literally driving to work one morning and I said, ‘You know what? This makes sense. Let’s see if we can do this.’”
“In dealing with Brock, one minute, he can be into something, and the next minute, he can completely be not into something. I’m already prepared for this, mentally, and it’s gonna be a tough season. I know it is.”
“The guy’s a former world champion, has beat guys and held the title. No matter what his record is, what the guy has accomplished in the short amount of time that he’s been in MMA is incredible. To say the guy doesn’t have the credentials to coach ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ is probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard.”
The pair will go head-to-head as coaches on the reality show which will begin filming later this month, with the season premiere airing at the end of March. The two men will then compete for the number one contenders position in the heavyweight division, with the winner to challenge Cain Velasquez at the end of the year.
