FRANK TRIGG JOINS BAMMA COMMENTARY TEAM FOR BAMMA 13

The UK’s Premier Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce Frank Trigg to its commentary team for BAMMA 13, which takes place at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena on 14th September.

Tickets are on sale at http://bit.ly/1bUZXbR. Frank Trigg brings a wealth of competitive Mixed Martial Arts and combat sports experience to his role as commentator. An MMA veteran who has faced some of the biggest names in the game, Trigg is most well known for his two stints in the UFC. Trigg has also competed in professional wrestling for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. As a youth growing up in New York, Trigg was scouted to wrestle at the University of Oklahoma after which time he took a coaching position there. He continued compete at both Amateur and Professional levels and in 2000 Trigg qualified as an Olympic Trials finalist in wrestling. The veteran can also boast black belts in judo and Catch wrestling, as well as a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Trigg's professional MMA debut came in 1999 at Pride 8 in Japan.

He went on to face Shooto world champion Hayato Sakurai to earn his first career loss, before an undefeated stint at World Fighting Alliance where he held the WFA Welterweight title. 2003 saw Trigg enter the UFC, where he was to face Dennis Hallman, Renato Verissimo, George St. Pierre and Matt Hughes twice for the Welterweight title. Trigg went on to compete in Rumble on the Rock, take up a broadcasting job with Pride FC, to score the Icon Sport Middleweight title over Jason "Mayhem" Miller and then lose it to Robbie Lawler. He also fought at Pride 33 against Kazuo Misaki and at Sengoku 4 where he beat 2000 Judo Olympic Gold Medalist Makoto Takimoto by unanimous decision; before notching up a victory over Falaniko Vitale at Strikeforce in 2009. Trigg re-signed to the UFC in 2009 where he took on Josh Koscheck to lose via first round TKO. His ensuing loss against former Welterweight champion Matt Serra at UFC 109 was to be his last appearance on the show.

BAMMA 13 now marks Trigg's third appearance at BAMMA: BAMMA 6 saw Trigg fight and defeat British John Phillips by first round TKO in 2011. BAMMA 7 pitched him against replacement Jim Wallhead, to whom he lost by split decision in the same year. BAMMA 13 will see Frank Trigg bring his long experience and expertise to a different role at BAMMA, as commentator.
