Lyoto Machida describes a potential fight with Phil Davis as “a classic match-up between styles”

Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida has been giving his thoughts on the possibility of a fight with undefeated top prospect, Phil Davis at some point later this year, describing the fight as “a classic match-up between styles”.
Speaking via Yahoo! Sports Brazil, Machida said:

“It would be a classic match-up between styles. (Phil) Davis is a natural born wrestler. I would have to adjust some aspects in my game to face it as an equal. But this ability to change and learn has always been one of my strongest characteristics. There will be no problem.”

Machida is coming off that spectacular flying front-kick knockout of octagon legend, Randy Couture, putting him back on track at 205 pounds after difficult defeats at the hands of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
As for Davis, he was expected to take on Rashad Evans at UFC 133 earlier this month but was forced to withdraw due to injury. His last action came on the UFC Fight Night 24 show, defeating former PRIDE veteran, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira via unanimous decision.
