UFC President, Dana White has today refused to rule out former light heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz as the new number one contender if he manages to knock off Rashad Evans at UFC 133 on August 6th in Philadelphia. Speaking at today’s press conference in Denver, Colorado, Dana said:
“I don’t know. It’s tough one. He beats [Ryan] Bader who was ranked, I think 7 or 8. Then he comes back and beats the guy ranked No. 1? I don’t know. It’s a tough question. Some would say Tito. Some would say he probably has to beat one other guy. I don’t know. We’ll figure that out when it happens.”
Ortiz is coming off a surprising first round submission win over “Ultimate Fighter” season eight winner, Ryan Bader at UFC 132 early on in July, a win that prevented him being axed from the Las Vegas based promotion’s roster. Despite winning two rounds last time out against Evans the fight ended a draw after he repeatedly grabbed the cage.
