"Scarface" has reportedly suffered an injury that has forced him out of a previously rumored bout against division number one contender Chad Mendes.
Heavy.com brought word of the bad news earlier today.
Aldo vs. Mendes was heavily rumored to take place at the upcoming UFC 133 event in Philadelphia on Aug. 6; however, it was later announced that Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis would headline the show and it looked likely the featherweight title fight would get pushed back to a later event.
That is now an inevitability with "Junior" suffering an injury that will apparently have him out until at least mid-September. There are currently two shows rumored for that month: UFC Fight Night 25 (Sept. 17) and UFC 135 (Sept. 24).
No word yet on whether Mendes will get a new opponent or will simply wait until Aldo gets healthy.
