Brian Rogers joins Bellator's season-five middleweight tournament field

Ohio fighter and recent Strikeforce competitor Brian Rogers (7-2 MMA, 0-0 BFC) has been added to Bellator Fighting Championsips' season-five middleweight tournament, his camp recently announced.

He joins the quickly filling field on the heels of a six-fight win streak, and all of the wins have come via knockout.

Most recently, he scored a first-round TKO of Ian Rammel at "Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson" in Columbus, Ohio.

Bellator's eight-man tournament kicks off in September on MTV2. The winner gets $100,000 in total pay and a guaranteed title shot with current middleweight champ Hector Lombard in 2012.

Rogers, a special-education teacher and former Walsh University linebacker, turned pro in 2008 and launched his career with a 1-2 record and two decision losses. However, the 27-year-old is undefeated since then, and every victory has come in the first round.

In addition to Strikeforce, he's competed for organizations such as NAAFS, which is one of Ohio's most popular organizations, and Shine Fights.

Following the win over Rammel, Rogers hoped to sign with Strikeforce or another major organization.
