"Easy" does it.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) today announced that verbal agreements were in place for a "Battle on the Bayou" pitting Alan Belcher against Jason MacDonald in a middleweight scrap for Sept. 17 in New Orleans.
Belcher (16-6) hasn't competed since choking out Patrick "The Predator" Cote at UFC 113: "Machida vs. Shogun II" back in May 2010. It was "The Talent's" second straight win (and second straight finish) that was good enough to earn him a Fight Night 22 main event opposite Demian Maia later that year.
Then the unthinkable happened.
A trip to Brazil to help prepare him instead set him back considerably, when a routine sparring session resulted in a detached retina that required multiple surgeries and nearly ended his career.

Like Belcher, MacDonald (25-14) also suffered a potential career-ending injury when he shattered his leg against John Salter in the first round at UFC 113. It was particularly devastating because "The Athlete" had just fought his way back into the promotion after securing three consecutive wins on the regional circuit.
He proved he was indeed back for good after having his leg reassembled and strangling Ryan Jensen en route to a first round submission win at UFC 129: "St. Pierre vs. Shields" just last month.
