UFC Quick Quote: Phil Davis doesn't want to hurt Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFN 24

"Nothing against anyone else or whatever tactics they use, but that's just me. I'm just fairly agreeable. I don't like to make a vendetta where there isn't one. I know Nogueira. I've trained with him. Nice guy. We're going to fight, and then I'll see him around San Diego, I'm going to shake his hand and we'll hang out. There's no need to make it more than what it is. We're doing business together. We're going to beat the crap out of each other and knock each others' screws loose, and hug after we're done and be real men and shake each others' hands, and that's it.... Everybody you get the opportunity to train with, just train with them. So what if you have to fight them later? There's nothing about this fight, there's nothing malicious. I don't want to go out and rip his head off and hurt him or anything like that. No way. The Nogueira brothers are a class act. We're both going to make some money, hopefully get that Fight of the Night, and that's about it."
-- Four-time All-American wrestler from Penn State University, Phil Davis, just wants to win when he steps inside the Octagon to fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the UFC Fight Night 24 main event, which is scheduled to take place at the Key Arena in Seattle, Wash., on March 26, 2011. "Mr. Wonderful" -- who stepped up on short notice to fill in for an injured Tito Ortiz -- is facing the toughest test of his undefeated (8-0) mixed martial career to date. He tells the USA Today that "Lil Nog" had eight fights under his belt before Davis was even thinking about fighting for a living. But here he is now, on the biggest stage the sport has to offer, taking on a very experienced, crafty and well-traveled 23-fight veteran. And he's not going to manufacture beef or resort to mind games to get the job done, approaching the light heavyweight showdown with a level head and total respect for his former training partner. That might be the noble thing to do, but does Davis need a few more fights under his belt to understand the value of fight promotion -- real or fake -- like "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" or will you watch the Spike TV broadcast no matter what?
