UFC Quick Quote: God didn't bring Michihiro Omigawa back to the Octagon to lose to Chad Mendes

"It doesn’t feel like I should say finally, but finally, I’m back in the UFC. Somehow, I feel like there’s this strong bond between myself and the UFC. I’m really happy that I’m able to come back. Maybe it is God telling me that I have to return to the UFC, and that’s why I’m able to go back now... I don’t think [Chad Mendes is] much of an MMA fighter. He’s not going to try to finish an opponent. I think I’m the one with the advantage here."
Michihiro Omigawa is "finally" back in the UFC after an 8-2-1 run on the Japanese MMA scene. The DEEP veteran was unsuccessful in two appearances under the Zuffa banner back in 2007/08, falling to Matt Wiman (UFC 76) and Thiago Tavares (UFC Fight Night 12) via unanimous decision and finding his release shortly thereafter. Omigawa now faces undefeated WEC import Chad Mendes at UFC 126: "Silva vs. Belfort" this Saturday night (Feb. 5) and tells Sherdog.com that it is he, not his opponent, that will have the upper hand on fight night. Is Mendes going to wrestle his way to victory? Or get exposed as the one-dimensional fighter Omigawa claims him to be?
