UFC 126: "Silva vs. Belfort" from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially wrapped, which means that it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $75,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's leaving "Sin City" with a second sack of simoleons.
In perhaps the biggest landslide in the history of the promotion, Anderson Silva was awarded his "Knockout of the Night" bonus for continuing to outdo himself by putting Vitor Belfort on his ass with a front kick. In related news, it's suspected that Neo from the Matrix is in fact, a real person and he's a Brazilian who currently holds the UFC middleweight title.
Also hauling in a wheelbarrow full of cash is Jon Jones, who not only won "Submission of the Night" with his second round guillotine choke of Ryan Bader, but also earned himself a date against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua for the light heavyweight title on March 19 at UFC 128.
Sorry, Rashad Evans. Get well soon.
Finally, Paul Kelly and Donald Cerrone were awarded "Fight of the Night" for their thrilling back-and-forth war of attrition during the Spike portion of the broadcast. "Cowboy" started slow but finished strong by submitting "Tellys" with a rear naked choke in round two.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 126:
Star-divide
Fight of the Night -- Paul Kelly vs Donald Cerrone
Knockout of the Night -- Anderson Silva
Submission of the Night -- Jon Jones
Again, each fighter received $75,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
